Using Hashtags
The Insta-Game is on. And it is big.
Yet, it is not just only about numbers. It is about using the right hashtags so the right people can actually find you.
How about an example:
When you are an amazing hostel or hotel in Bali, and you tag your great photos with #travelthailand, it is useless.
When a user searches for this hashtag and finds your hostel, the chances are almost zero they will stay with you. Make sure you tag appropriately. Make sure you use your location.
When someone searches instagram for inspiration, this is where you should pop up. The hashtag #travelbali would be way more interesting. This person could end up coming to your place, because it clearly states interest in your location. And not like Thailand!
You could argue, maybe that person will come from Thailand to Bali – that is a big stretch. Even if we agree on that particular person will visit Bali one day too, chances are, they will not remember your place anyway by then.
The noise is too strong!
That being said, obviously, if you stand out with something epic, then of course this person could come back. Let’s say it is an infinity pool or something unique like a swing in a private double room and terrace. Just to give an example.
The Power of Instagram Captions
The instagram caption is the information, the text you add below your actual photo.
The caption is quite important. Here you can give high value to your potential clients. Let them know where this photos was taken, and some more information that they can understand.
